Buhari reaffirms his commitment to fair, peaceful elections in 2023

President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his commitment to ensuring peaceful and fair elections ahead of the 2023 general elections for the umpteenth time.

In addition, the President stated that he is committed to seeing candidates with integrity win in the general elections next year.

President Buhari gave the assurance during a meeting with Senator Basheer Lado, an All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Kano Central Senatorial seat, on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Lado’s meeting with the President took place one day before the APC’s senatorial primary elections on Friday, May 27, 2022.

“As you are aware, Kano State is the largest producer of votes in Nigeria,” Senator Lado told State House Correspondents after his meeting with the President.

“It will determine who will be the next president of the United States in the presidential election.”

“I respectfully informed and reassured Mr President that the APC is still the party to beat in Kano despite recent defections, just as my Governor, His Excellency, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has done in the past.”

According to him, President Buhari declared his commitment to fair elections that would result in the election of trustworthy candidates.

“After my briefing, Mr President reaffirmed his commitment to credible and peaceful elections, as well as his desire to see candidates with integrity win at the polls across the country,” Lado said.
