The delegates of the Young Progressives Party in the Anambra south senatorial district gathered today at the Converge hotel in Nnewi to affirm their total support for the Senator representing the zone’s aspiration for a second term in order to build on his outstanding performance during his first term.
The Senator, who ran unopposed, received 34 votes and one void vote to win the party’s nomination.
In his acceptance speech, the prince of the Senate promised to build on his achievements in the Senate thus far.
Officials from the party’s headquarters, led by National Secretary Barrister Vidiyeno Baimaiyi and his team, conducted the primaries, which were watched by representatives from the Independent Electoral Commission ( INEC ).
In a related development, Hon Peter Uzokwe, a former president general of Ozubulu in the Ekwusigo Local Government Area, has been announced as the party’s candidate for the Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.
