The Owo Catholic church massacre suspects have been apprehended, according to the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed “Amotekun Corps,” which also recovered some weapons and a vehicle.

On Thursday morning, the local media outlet Crest 106.1FM in Akure, Ondo State, posted this update on its well-known Facebook page.

The terrorist attack on the ancient city on June 5 resulted in at least 40 fatalities. Such were infrequently reported in the southwest, which shocked many people.

Nigeria’s Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, attributed the attack to the Islamic State in West Africa Province four days after it occurred (ISWAP). In the meantime, Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, disagreed with the Federal Government, stating that it is too early to attribute the terror attack solely to ISWAP.

A Boko Haram offshoot with close ties to ISIS is known as ISWAP (also known as IS or ISIL)
