The Progressives Governors’ Forum on Thursday passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu, with the party leadership adopting the decision.
The governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), put their decision up for adoption during the party’s national summit at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Chairman of the Progressives Governors and the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma said members of the Progressive Governors Forum are satisfied with the midterm review and performance evaluation result of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We acknowledge the resolution of these governors that Mr President carries our flag in 2027 and the governors take responsibility for delivering this mandate in their states,” Uzodimma said.
He called the governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, to second the motion to for the adoption of the President for the 2027 presidential election.
The Imo State governor then went ahead to put the decision to voice vote where majority of party leaders in the hall agreed with a loud voice to back the President all through to the 2027 election.
In the same vein, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term.
Akpabio who led a delegation of National Assembly leadership to back Tinubu for the 2027 general elections at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit at the banquet hall of the State House, Abuja argued that if the President had not done well in office within the last two years, the lawmakers would have given Tinubu a notice of impeachment.
“If this President has done well, is it us that will say so? If he has not done well, is it not us that will give him notice of impeachment? We are not giving him notice of impeachment. In 2023, it was difficult for you but in 2027, I see everything turning around,” he stated.
“Nigerians are saying that because you have done a difficult job well that it is time for us to reward you by sending you back to the presidency for a second term in office.
“I move therefore as the Senate President that Mr President return as flag bearer of the APC unopposed and as the next president for a second term come 2027.”
Abbas on his part backed Akpabio’s move for Tinubu to return as President in 2027.
“I stand on behalf of the whole 109 senators, 360 members and the whole 36 speakers and their members to second this very important motion moved by the Senate President, I so second,” Abbas stated.
This endorsement follows similar moves by other APC regional leaders, including the North Central governors who recently passed a vote of confidence in Tinubu’s administration, praising his developmental strides and inclusive governance approach.
The Progressive Governors Forum’s backing further consolidates Tinubu’s position as the APC’s flag bearer for 2027.
Investigator news reports that the summit was attended by President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Reps Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, governors elected under the party and other party bigwigs.
