Rotimi Ameachi, a former minister of transportation for Nigeria, claims he is returning to Rivers State to ensure the success of the All Progressives Congress in the general elections of 2023.
Amaechi made the statement shortly after landing at Port Harcourt International Airport on Saturday, Omagwa.
Leaders of the APC and his supporters greeted him wildly when he arrived at the airport.
The former minister vowed to resolve all internal disputes within the party that followed his defeat in the APC presidential primary last month.
He urged party members to join him in achieving the goal as a result.
Speaking about lawsuits filed against the party over the way its primaries were handled in the state, Amaechi referred to the plaintiffs as troublemakers who wanted to make the party’s 2019 experience in the state repeat itself.
However, he reaffirmed that the APC would appear on the ballot the following year.
He remarked, “All those who are worried about the election and want to sue to have people’s names taken off the ballot, I thought they were well-liked?
“We’ll use the election to gauge our level of support. Rely on the court; justice will be served. Go home and work; don’t be afraid.
“Work is what we do. I came for that reason.
Amaechi recently finished second in the APC presidential primary after receiving 316 delegates.
