On Thursday in Lagos, the Action Alliance (AA) leadership denied that a lawsuit had been filed against the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Sen. Bola Tinubu.
Mr Adekunle Omoaje, National Chairman of AA, stated in a statement that the APC presidential standard bearer had not committed any offence that would warrant the party filing a court case against him.
Recall that the alleged suit against Tinubu, which was reported in some sections of the media on Wednesday, asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission from including the name of the All Progressives Congress on the ballot for the 2023 presidential election.
In response to the suit, Omoaje stated, “It has come to the attention of the Action Alliance leadership that a suit was purportedly filed on behalf of the party at the Federal High Court, Abuja against the All Progressive Congress and its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.”
“The matter alleged to have been filed and deposed to by one Upkai Ukairo and one Kalu Agu has nothing to do with Action Alliance.”
“In fact, both Upkai Ukairo and Kalu Agu are alien to the party and its leadership.” They are most likely effigies or, at best, fictitious people.”
According to him, the party did not file a lawsuit against Tinubu.
“No member of the party could institute a case on behalf of the party without his knowledge,” he said.
“We advise the said respondents in the alleged suit to disregard and discount the entire matter in its entirety as it did not emanate from my table as the National Chairman of the party, nor was our legal desk aware of such matter.”
Omoaje warned Nigerians to be wary of people of questionable character who seek to exploit them.
He stated that the party’s leadership was hard at work completing all legal documentation required by law to participate in the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial election and the 2023 general elections.
