The Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Grassroots Sports Development, Mr. Adebanji Adeoye Atewogboye, popularly known as SKIBANJ, has joined Nigerians in celebrating the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

In his Independence Day message on Wednesday, October 1, 2026, SKIBANJ said he honours the unwavering resilient spirit of every Nigerian who refuses to break and remains united and sports-loving.

He described the 66th anniversary as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s history and a time to honour the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers who fought for the country’s sovereignty.

According to him, the celebration also provides a moment to reflect on the progress made, the challenges overcome and the promise of a brighter future.

SKIBANJ noted that for athletes in Lagos State and across the country, the anniversary should serve as a true source of inspiration, urging them to allow the legacy of the founding fathers and sports heroes to fuel their paths toward self-discovery and talent development.

He said such inspiration would empower young athletes to contribute positively to the development of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.

The Governor’s aide reaffirmed his commitment to the #GreaterLagosRising agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, pledging to continue providing youths with the right infrastructure, mentorship and opportunities to thrive through grassroots sports and enterprise.

He prayed that the anniversary would bring strength, peace and victory to all Nigerians, while wishing the nation a happy 66th Independence celebration.
