……Says Governor’s Dedication To Tinubu, Wike Insults Election Sacrifices

The Eastern Union, Nigeria has condemned Governor Ademola Adeleke’s recent visit to Abuja to present his Certificate of Return, describing the action as the “biggest betrayal” of the people of Osun State.
In a press statement signed by its National President,Hon. Charles Anike, the group accused the governor of dishonouring the sacrifices made by Osun citizens during the 2022 governorship election.
The Union alleged that about 40 people lost their lives, while many others lost businesses, valuables and reputation due to violence allegedly perpetrated by “APC thugs, both imported and home based” during the campaigns.
According to Hon. Anike, it was the courage and resistance of Osun people that forced the APC to concede defeat and allowed the will of the people to prevail.
He therefore faulted Gov. Adeleke for dedicating his victory toPresident Bola Tinubu, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and other APC leaders during his Abuja visit.
“There can’t be any more betrayals than this,” the statement said. “It is disheartening and discouraging that the governor could descend so low to share God’s glory and the testimony of Osun people because of fear of mortal men.”
The group went further to criticized the governor for appreciating the President for “allowing free and fair election” in Osun.
“How free and fair is an election that claimed about forty citizens of Osun?” Hon. Anike queried. “Maybe the governor is satisfied because he was not rigged out.”
Citing Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, he added that the comment reflects a situation where “when a beggar dies, there is no comment seen, but even the Heaven announces the death of a prince.”
The Eastern Union described the governor’s trip to present his certificate to President Tinubu as “aimless and unwarranted,” stating that it “automatically cut short the joy and celebration” of Osun people and Nigerians who believed in a New Nigeria.
The statement further noted that Davido, who supported the campaign, should have advised his uncle against what it called “cheap political manipulations and blackmail by APC leaders” instead of succumbing to them.
While saying “the deed has been done,” the Union urged Gov. Adeleke to “immediately retrace his footsteps back to God and the people of Osun State.”
“Otherwise there will surely be a pay back time and the people of Osun will pay him back in the same coin with disappointment in the nearest future,” Hon. Anike warned.
As of press time, the Osun State Government had not responded to the allegations.
The Eastern Union said it remains committed to speaking on issues that affect the welfare and political future of Nigerians.
