The Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area,Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, has inaugurated the 2026 Bursary Award Committee to facilitate educational support for students in the council area.
The initiative is part of the administration’s drive to promote human capital development and ease the financial burden on students and their families.
Investigator news reports that the 5-man committee will oversee the selection and disbursement of bursary awards to deserving students.
It is chaired by Olawole Olaniyi Joseph, PhD, with Hon. (Mrs) Seriki Salimot Atinuke as Vice Chairman.
Other members are:Mr. Coker E.A.,Head, Department of Education and Library Services,(Secretary),Hon. Bello Adeniyi Jelil,Supervisor for Education,Hon. Amusa Julius Olayinka, Special Adviser on Security and Students Affairs
Speaking at the inauguration, Hon. Abiodun urged committee members to carry out their duties with transparency, fairness and integrity.
He said the bursary scheme reflects his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and access to quality education across Oto-Awori LCDA.
Responding on behalf of the committee, Chairman Dr. Olawole Olaniyi Joseph appreciated the council leadership for the trust reposed in them.
He pledged that the committee would ensure a credible, merit-based process in the selection of beneficiaries to guarantee that support gets to the right students.
The council stated that details on application guidelines and timelines will be communicated to schools and the public in due course.
The bursary award is expected to benefit students from tertiary institutions who are indigenes or residents of Oto-Awori LCDA.
