……Kogi Govt Approves Solar Power, 25 Computers, Fence And PTA Teachers’ Salaries For School.

Lokoja,Kogi— Kogi State Governor,Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has lauded the Henry Adetayo Foundation for its landmark intervention at Local Government Secondary School, Okeagi, describing the newly remodeled facility as a significant investment in the future of the community.
The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Education,Hon. Wemi Jones, at the handover ceremony on Saturday, said the project exemplified service to humanity and deep commitment to improving the lives of young people.
Ododo described the transformation of the school as one of the most significant private-sector interventions received by the state’s education system since the launch of the School Adoption and Mentorship Programme.
He noted that the renovation was done without political considerations and aligns with government’s objective of getting individuals, organisations and philanthropists to complement efforts in transforming education.
“Investment in education remains one of the most enduring investments any individual, organisation or government can make. Providing children with quality learning facilities will positively influence generations yet unborn,” he said.
The Governor called on well-meaning individuals and successful members of communities to emulate the foundation by investing in education and other development needs of their areas.
To consolidate the gains of the intervention, Governor Ododo announced several measures for the school such as collaborating with local government authorities,by taking over payment of PTA teachers’ salaries to strengthen teaching capacity,approval for digital learning facilities and educational materials.
He noted that a solar inverter has already been installed and 25 computers will be provided to enhance digital literacy,construction of a perimeter fence around the school to protect students, teachers and infrastructure.
He charged the Okeagi community to take ownership of the facility and protect it from vandalism for the benefit of present and future students.
The CEO of Henry Adetayo Foundation, Mrs. C.O. Arayeigbemi,said the renovation was undertaken in memory of her late husband, who believed strongly in the transformative power of education.
“Education is an inheritance that cannot be lost. We chose to immortalise his legacy not merely through remembrance, but through an intervention capable of positively shaping the lives of young people,” she stated.
She said the foundation’s objective is to provide children in Okeagi and neighboring communities a conducive environment to learn, dream and prepare for a better future. She also presented educational materials to the school.
Speaking on behalf of the students,Ojo Precious expressed appreciation to the foundation for providing a befitting learning environment and renewed hope.
She assured that students would study hard, respect their teachers and protect the newly renovated facilities.
Investigator news reports that the Okeagi project has been described as a model for public-private partnership in education under the Ododo administration.
