Football enthusiasts across Ijegun, Ijedodo and neighbouring communities are set for an exciting sporting fiesta as Eze Ambassador Dr. Chika C. Nwokedi, the Eze Ndigbo of Ijegun/Ijedodo Community and Chairman, Council of Ndieze hosts the Eze Okpoko 1 and Okpoko 1 Na Obodoukwu League Cup.
Investigator news reports that the highly anticipated competition is scheduled to commence on Sunday, August 30, 2026, with six teams set to battle for football supremacy while using the tournament as a platform to promote unity, friendship, sportsmanship and community development.
The tournament is expected to attract football lovers, community leaders, youths and supporters, with organisers promising an atmosphere filled with exciting football, healthy rivalry and memorable moments.
The opening day will witness two interesting encounters. At 3:00 p.m., Ndi Igbo Buru Otu Association will lock horns with Legend Star, while Obi Udo will face Igbo Speaking at 4:30 p.m.

The competition continues on Sunday, September 6, with Eastern Brothers taking on Obi Udo at 3:00 p.m., before Igbo Bi Na Ije confronts Ndi Igbo Buru Otu Association at 4:30 p.m.
On September 13, football fans will be treated to another double-header as Legend Star battles Igbo Bi Na Ije at 3:00 p.m., while Igbo Speaking takes on Eastern Brothers at 4:30 p.m.
The release stated that the first stanza break has been scheduled for September 20, before the league resumes on September 27.
The resumption will see Ndi Igbo Buru Otu Association face Igbo Bi Na Ije at 3:00 p.m., while Igbo Speaking will go head-to-head with Obi Udo at 4:30 p.m.
Beyond the competition for points and glory,Eze Nwokedi who is the Eze Okpoko 1 and Okpoko 1 of Obodokwu noted that the league cup is expected to demonstrate the power of sports in bringing people together and strengthening relationships within the community.

It will be recalled that in the month of July, members of Ndigbo Buru Otu under the leadership of Eze Ambassador Nwokedi played a friendly match with Eastern Brothers of Nigeria where they played 1:1.
