Ejigbo, Lagos — Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) may soon witness a new chapter in environmental management and economic empowerment as the Executive Chairman, Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT), has commenced moves to transform waste into wealth, jobs and sustainable business opportunities for residents.
Aare TAT made the move on Thursday 30, July 2026 when he led a delegation of senior council officials to R. Johnny Fort International Limited, Isolo, Lagos, where he explored a strategic partnership with the company towards establishing a structured waste-to-wealth and recycling system in Ejigbo.
Investigator news reports that the initiative is expected to address the challenge of indiscriminate waste disposal while creating an economic chain around the collection, sorting, processing and recycling of recyclable materials.
It is also aimed at opening new opportunities for youths, entrepreneurs and other residents who could participate in various aspects of the emerging recycling value chain.
Speaking during the visit, the Chief Executive Officer of R. Johnny Fort International Limited, Dr. Raymond Opara, commended Aare TAT for what he described as a forward-looking initiative.
He expressed the company’s readiness to provide the technical expertise required to develop a sustainable recycling framework capable of delivering both environmental and economic benefits to Ejigbo.
The Executive Chairman stressed that his administration would continue to pursue practical initiatives that directly improve the lives of residents, noting that waste should not be viewed only as a problem but also as a potential source of income and enterprise.
He said the proposed programme would complement the council’s sanitation efforts by encouraging residents to embrace proper waste disposal, recycling and responsible environmental practices.
According to the chairman, a successful waste-to-wealth programme would have multiple benefits for Ejigbo, including a cleaner environment, improved public health, employment generation, skills development and increased economic activity.
He added that the council would explore ways of involving community members and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the initiative becomes sustainable and delivers measurable benefits across the LCDA.
Aare TAT’s latest move is expected to further strengthen his administration’s focus on programmes capable of combining environmental sustainability with economic empowerment.
The chairman expressed optimism that with the right technical partnership and active participation from residents, Ejigbo could develop a model recycling system that would turn an environmental challenge into an opportunity for prosperity.
Investigator news gathered that the chairman was accompanied on the visit by the Leader of the House, Hon. Oluwaseyi Gabriel Sobande; Hon. Taiwo Idowu Hassan; Hon. Hakeem Araokanmi; Hon. Fatai Adio Obe; Hon. Olabisi Rukayat Muritala.
Others are the Chief of Staff, Hon. Ramon Taiwo; Council Treasurer, Alhaji Okeowo Isiaq Adesina, FCA; Council Engineer, Engr. Isikalu Solomon Abiodun; NULGE Chairman, Comrade Aluko; and other senior officials of the council.
