As part of activities marking his first year in office, the Executive Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Dr. Seyi Jakande (JAKO), has announced a fresh round of strategic appointments aimed at strengthening governance, promoting inclusiveness, and accelerating the implementation of his administration’s HEWA Agenda.

The Chairman approved the appointment of one Special Assistant (SA) and three Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) to support his administration in key areas of governance and public service delivery.

Investigator news reports that the newly appointed officials are Mr. Onoche Ruben, who will serve as Special Assistant on Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), while Hon. Sekinat Animasahun, Hon. Seun Festus, and Hon. Samson Temim have been appointed as Senior Special Assistants to oversee strategic areas including Civic Enhancement, Reform, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony held on Monday, Hon. Jakande described the appointments as a deliberate step towards building a more responsive, inclusive and people-oriented local government.

He charged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by remaining diligent, loyal, accountable and committed to the welfare of residents.

According to the Chairman, the appointments were based on competence, integrity, loyalty and a shared commitment to the vision of his administration.

“These appointments are based on competence, loyalty and commitment to our vision of a Healthy Environment and Working for All under the HEWA Agenda.

I urge you to serve the people with dedication, humility and sincerity. The interest of our residents must always come first,” Jakande stated.

A major highlight of the appointments is the creation of the office of Special Assistant on Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), a landmark initiative that underscores the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and equal representation for all segments of society.

The appointment of Mr. Onoche Ruben to champion disability issues is expected to strengthen policies and programmes that promote the welfare, empowerment and inclusion of persons living with disabilities in the council’s development agenda.

The move has been widely applauded by political observers and community stakeholders, who describe it as a bold step that places Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA among the leading local governments in Lagos State championing disability inclusion and participatory governance.

The appointments also reflect the administration’s resolve to deepen civic engagement, institutional reforms and digital transformation, while improving the quality and efficiency of public service delivery.

Since assuming office one year ago, Hon. Jakande has recorded significant achievements through the HEWA Agenda in infrastructure development, healthcare delivery, education, environmental sanitation, youth and sports development, women empowerment, social welfare and community development.

With the appointment of the new aides, the Chairman is expected to consolidate these achievements while driving a more inclusive, innovative and responsive administration in the years ahead.

Hon. Jakande congratulated the newly appointed officials and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the council’s vision of sustainable development and excellent grassroots governance.

Investigator news gathered that the latest appointments further reinforce the administration’s commitment to ensuring that no resident is left behind as Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA continues its journey toward becoming a model of progressive and people-centred local governance in Lagos State.
