Hundreds of residents of Ope-Oluwa Community Development Association (CDA) in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, have benefited from a free medical outreach organized to commemorate the first anniversary of the association’s current executive committee.
The one-day healthcare intervention, held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, was facilitated by the Ope-Oluwa CDA under the leadership of its Chairman, Mr. Abiodun Odebunmi, in partnership with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Annex Pakoto Outreach, Ifo, Ogun State.
Residents of Ope-Oluwa and neighboring underserved communities turned out in large numbers to access free medical services, including blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, medical consultations, health education, and the distribution of essential medications.
Healthcare professionals at the outreach diagnosed and treated common ailments such as malaria, hypertension, and diabetes.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Odebunmi said the outreach formed part of activities marking one year of the current CDA administration, noting that the initiative reflected the association’s commitment to improving the welfare of residents.
He explained that while the community had previously hosted medical interventions, this year’s programme was expanded to provide greater support for elderly residents, nursing mothers, children, and low-income earners who often struggle to afford quality healthcare.
According to him, the outreach was the association’s way of giving back to the community in appreciation of the support it has received over the past year.
“A productive community begins with a healthy one,” the chairman said, while commending the medical volunteers from LUTH Annex Pakoto Outreach for their dedication and professionalism in providing free healthcare services and medications to beneficiaries.
The event was attended by members of the CDA executive, including the Vice Chairman, Mr. Kayode Zacchaeus; Secretary, Mr. Roheem Muhideen; Financial Secretary, Mr. Mojisola Ajao; Treasurer, Mr. Adeleye Isaiah; Women Representative, Mrs. Asimiyu Adijat.
Others are Youth Representative, Mr. Ajose Hafiz; Auditor, Mr. Osatimehin Ola; Welfare Officer, Mr. Wasiu Ajayi; Public Relations Officer I, Mr. Kazeem Logunleko; and Social Secretary, Mrs. Babalola Eunice.
The medical team was led by Dr. Adams Aliyu, Dr. Tagwaye Deborah, and Dr. Adaramola S.O., alongside a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
Also participating were the Head Nurse of LUTH Pakoto Annex, Mrs. Akinpelu Bukola, Mr. Saka Olatunji, Mr. Stanley Derickson, and other members of staff.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the CDA and the medical volunteers for bringing quality healthcare closer to the people. One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Olatunji Modupe Christiana, described the outreach as timely and impactful, noting that the free medications and medical consultations had eased the financial burden created by the rising cost of healthcare and prescription drugs.
The outreach further underscored the importance of partnerships between community associations and healthcare institutions in expanding access to primary healthcare and improving the well-being of residents at the grassroots.
