Oghene won the closely fought party primary that took place not long ago in Satellite Town by garnering a greater number of votes than his closest opponent, Mr. Paschal, who garnered a total of seven votes. Mr. Methuselah Ejike, a former actor in Nollywood, received six votes, while none of the other two competitors received any votes.

Although the process of accrediting delegates and starting voting very late due to the late arrival of party officials charged with the exercise, the primary election was conducted peacefully and orderly amidst tight security, free of any rancour or violence. Despite the late arrival of party officials charged with the exercise, the primary election was conducted in a secure environment.

At the conclusion of the voting, the Returning Officer made the official announcement that Hon. Oghene Emma Egoh had won the election. During this time, all of the contestants congratulated one another, hugged, and shook hands with one another. Party leaders, delegates, and members laughed and admired one another.

Oghene praised the electoral umpires of the party for their work in ensuring a free and fair primary, telling reporters shortly after the event, “I would want to express satisfaction to the electoral officials of our great party for conducting a free and fair primary which all the contestants have attested to be just and rancour free.”
He said that he was overcome with emotion by the large number of votes that the majority of the delegates had cast for him and promised that he would not take the mandate or the support that had been given to him for granted.
The lawmaker extended his hand in fellowship to the other candidates and complimented them on the outstanding manner in which they behaved themselves during the competition. He went on to point out that the party, and not one person, emerged victorious from the primary election.
According to his own words, “I would like to extend my hands of fellowship to my fellow competitors for the outstanding manner in which you handled yourself during the exercise.” The results of this primary election indicate that the PDP, and not just me personally, is the victor.
