Oto-Awori, Lagos – The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende (RAK), and Hon. Surajudeen Tijani (Emir), Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ojo Constituency II, have thrown their weight behind Ikechukwu Damilola’s ambitious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest hairdressing marathon.
The duo paid a morale-boosting visit to Damilola, popularly known as Transformation King, at the venue of the 120-hour hairdressing marathon currently taking place at Unique Unity Lounge, Iyana-Era, Ijanikin, in Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The visit attracted residents, youth groups, community leaders, and supporters who gathered to witness the historic challenge and celebrate a young entrepreneur determined to place his community and Lagos State on the global map through creativity and resilience.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development commended Damilola’s courage, perseverance, and innovative spirit, describing the record attempt as a shining example of what young Nigerians can achieve when given the right support and platform.
According to him, the Lagos State Government remains committed to promoting youth-driven initiatives that encourage excellence, entrepreneurship, and self-development, adding that young people possess immense potential capable of transforming society when properly harnessed.
Hon. Surajudeen Tijani also applauded Damilola’s determination, noting that the marathon reflects the growing culture of innovation and positive engagement among youths in Lagos.
He urged other young people to draw inspiration from the feat and pursue their aspirations with dedication and discipline.
Officials of Oto-Awori LCDA described the visit as a strong endorsement of youth talent and creativity, stressing that government support for initiatives such as the Guinness World Record attempt would encourage more young people to explore their talents and contribute meaningfully to society.
Chairman of Oto-Awori LCDA, Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and development. He pledged to introduce more programmes, engagements, and opportunities designed to showcase the abilities of young people and position them for national and international recognition.
The chairman said the council recognizes youths as critical stakeholders in community development and will continue to invest in initiatives that nurture innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
