The Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Ahmed Usman Ododo, has empowered 500 women and vulnerable persons across Okunland with cash grants of ₦50,000 each and distributed food items to support their livelihoods and ease the burden of economic hardship.
The empowerment programme, which drew beneficiaries from the five local government areas of Okunland, was held on Saturday in Kabba, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

The initiative forms part of the First Lady’s ongoing efforts to promote economic inclusion, strengthen families, and improve the welfare of women and vulnerable groups at the grassroots.
Addressing participants at the event, Hajia Ododo explained that the intervention was aimed at providing direct support to women, widows, and other vulnerable members of society, enabling them to expand their businesses, meet family needs, and achieve greater financial independence.

She emphasized the critical role women play in community development and nation-building, noting that empowering women remains one of the most effective strategies for reducing poverty and enhancing family welfare.
According to the First Lady, the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo remains dedicated to implementing people-oriented programmes and policies that positively impact citizens across Kogi State.
“Our women are hardworking and resilient. Supporting them means strengthening families, building stronger communities, and creating opportunities for sustainable development.

This empowerment programme is designed to restore hope and improve economic stability among our women,” she stated.
She urged beneficiaries to make prudent use of the cash grants and food items, stressing that the support was intended to improve their living standards and help them grow their various enterprises.
Hajia Ododo also called on the people of Okunland to continue supporting the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, assuring them that the government remains committed to delivering good governance and expanding opportunities for all residents of the state.
The First Lady further appealed for sustained support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda is creating a solid foundation for economic growth, social progress, and national development.
She expressed optimism that the Federal Government’s reforms and initiatives would continue to yield positive outcomes and improve the quality of life for Nigerians.

Earlier in the day, Hajia Sefinat Ododo paid a courtesy visit to the Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, where she received royal blessings and reaffirmed the Kogi State Government’s commitment to working closely with traditional institutions in fostering peace, unity, and sustainable development.

The empowerment initiative further highlights the First Lady’s dedication to improving the welfare of women and vulnerable groups while creating opportunities for economic growth and renewed hope across Okunland.
