The Lagos State Mainland Province of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has called on Nigerians to return to God in genuine repentance, describing spiritual renewal as essential to achieving peace, security and national restoration.
The fellowship also condemned the continued captivity of schoolchildren abducted in Oyo State, demanding their immediate and safe release to ease the anxiety and trauma being experienced by their families.
The call was made during the PFN’s annual May 30 revival programme themed “Help from Above,” held simultaneously across various provinces of the fellowship on Saturday.
The programme, which took place at the Bariga Primary School Complex in Lagos, featured prayers, praise worship, deliverance sessions and exhortations aimed at encouraging spiritual revival and drawing attention to the dangers of drifting away from God amid the nation’s growing challenges.
Delivering a sermon at the event, Guest Preacher and Lead Pastor of International Miracle Service (IMS), Pastor Andrew Umoru, said the theme reflected the difficult state of the nation and humanity’s urgent need for divine intervention.
According to him, sin and disobedience have become major obstacles preventing many people from receiving answers to their prayers.
“Help from above is about creating access for God’s assistance to come upon mankind freely, like rainfall from heaven without hindrance,” Umoru said.
He stressed that repentance, atonement and obedience to God were necessary for individuals and communities seeking divine help and restoration.
“Satan cannot be obedient to you when you are not obedient to God. As individuals, we must obey God to gain the spiritual authority to overcome the devil and his antics,” he added.
The cleric also expressed concern over worsening insecurity in the country, particularly the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State.
He warned that prolonged captivity could have lasting psychological effects on the children and urged security agencies to intensify efforts to secure their release.
Also speaking, the Mainland PFN Chairman, Pastor Chinedu Momah, represented by the fellowship’s General Secretary, Pastor Moses Mboso, said the revival programme was designed to call people back to God and encourage prayers for the nation.
Momah noted that Nigeria was facing significant social and economic challenges, stressing that rebuilding the country should not be left solely to political leaders.
“The nation is not in its best shape. The responsibility of rebuilding the country should not rest on political leaders alone; every citizen has a role to play,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to seek God sincerely in repentance, expressing confidence that divine intervention would bring peace, unity, security and prosperity to the nation.
The revival attracted PFN members, worshippers and residents from different parts of Lagos State who gathered to pray for national healing and spiritual renewal.
