The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Cornelius Ojelabi, has appealed to party members across the state to maintain peace, orderliness and discipline as they participate in the party’s primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ojelabi urged party faithful to conduct themselves responsibly while electing the party’s candidates for the 24 House of Representatives seats in Lagos State, stressing that the APC remains committed to a transparent, credible and violence-free exercise.
The Lagos APC chairman, who also serves as chairman of the forum of APC state chairmen nationwide, commended members for their loyalty and continuous contributions to the growth and stability of the party. He encouraged them to sustain their support for the party’s programmes and democratic ideals.
According to him, adequate security and logistical arrangements have been put in place to guarantee the safety of members before, during and after the primaries. He assured aspirants and party supporters of a level-playing field, noting that every eligible member would be given equal opportunity to participate in the process.
Ojelabi, however, issued a stern warning to individuals planning to disrupt the exercise, stating that the party would not tolerate violence, intimidation, division or any act capable of undermining the integrity of the primaries.
“We assure our supporters of their safety and security as they come out to vote in this historic exercise. Necessary measures have been taken to ensure peace and order throughout the process,” he stated.
He further cautioned aspirants to properly manage their supporters and avoid actions capable of causing unrest, reminding them that the party’s peace accord remains binding on all contestants.
The APC chairman added that any aspirant linked to violence or disorderliness could face disciplinary measures, including disqualification, suspension or expulsion from the party.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal democracy and peaceful coexistence, urging members to place the unity and progress of the APC above personal interests.
