Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has recorded a significant academic milestone as the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted full accreditation to 27 academic programmes following the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise.
The accreditation covers 22 undergraduate and five postgraduate programmes across various faculties and the College of Health Sciences, further strengthening the university’s academic standing and reputation for quality education.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, who disclosed the development on Friday, described the outcome as a reflection of the institution’s steady growth and commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance.
According to him, undergraduate programmes that secured full accreditation cut across the Faculties of Agriculture, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Law, Management Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and the College of Health Sciences, while all postgraduate programmes in the Faculty of Management Sciences also received full accreditation status.
The NUC report, signed by its Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, indicated that Accounting, Business Administration, and Public Administration in the Faculty of Management Sciences received full accreditation.
Similarly, postgraduate programmes including M.Sc. Accounting, Banking and Finance, Management, Public Administration, and Master of Public Administration (MPA) were granted full accreditation.
The Faculty of Agriculture also recorded success, with Fisheries and Aquaculture securing full accreditation. In the College of Health Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Science, and Pharmacology equally received full accreditation status.
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities posted impressive results, with Arabic, History and International Studies, Islamic Studies, Philosophy, and English and Literary Studies gaining full accreditation, while Christian Religious Studies secured interim accreditation.
Computer Science in the Faculty of Computing also earned full accreditation, alongside the Law programme (Common and Islamic Law) in the Faculty of Law.
In the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Botany, Industrial Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, and Zoology attained full accreditation, while Economics and Sociology in the Faculty of Social Sciences also secured full status.
Professor Usman expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for providing the necessary support and enabling environment that made the achievement possible.
He noted that government investment in education continues to yield tangible results.
He also paid glowing tribute to the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, under whose leadership the accreditation exercise was conducted, describing her foresight, strategic planning, and resourcefulness as pivotal to the success.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed that recognizing contributions is part of academic integrity, noting that institutional achievements are products of collective and continuous efforts.
He assured stakeholders that the university would consolidate on the gains recorded, improve on areas with interim accreditation, and sustain high standards in teaching, research, and community service.
Professor Usman went further to recall that a similar achievement was recorded during his tenure as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, reaffirming his commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance.
The accreditation outcome reaffirms Prince Abubakar Audu University’s growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
