Ejigbo, Lagos — The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (TAT), has ordered immediate intervention to address the persistent traffic congestion along the Oke Afa–Jakande Gate inward corridor, following an on-the-spot assessment of the area.
The Chairman, who visited the location alongside council officials and security agencies, directed the commencement of urgent palliative works aimed at easing movement, improving traffic flow, and reducing the daily gridlock experienced by residents and commuters along the busy axis.
Aare TAT described the move as part of his administration’s responsive and people-centered governance approach, emphasizing the importance of swift action and coordinated enforcement to restore order and improve mobility within Ejigbo LCDA.
He expressed concern over the recurring congestion, noting that the traffic situation has continued to disrupt economic activities, delay commuters, and affect the ease of living for residents within the community.
“We are committed to ensuring smoother movement across Ejigbo. This intervention reflects our determination to respond promptly to challenges affecting our people and to create a more accessible and livable environment,” the Chairman stated during the inspection.
Council officials and security personnel who accompanied the Chairman supported the exercise, while arrangements were made to begin immediate remedial works to alleviate the situation.
In addition to addressing traffic challenges, TAT reaffirmed the continuation of the Light-Up Ejigbo Initiative, announcing that several roads across the LCDA will soon benefit from solar streetlight installations.
He disclosed that Jubril Olabisi Road, Dauda Iloh Road, Daleko Road, Lafenwa Road, NNPC Road, among other strategic roads, will be solarised in the coming days.
The initiative, according to him, is designed to enhance security, improve visibility for motorists and pedestrians, and promote economic activities, particularly during night hours.
Furthermore, the Chairman reiterated his administration’s support for the ongoing Federal Government Isolo–Ejigbo Road project, describing it as a critical development that will significantly improve connectivity and reduce travel time within the axis.
Aare TAT emphasized that his administration remains committed to sustained infrastructure development, improved mobility, and enhanced quality of life for residents of Ejigbo LCDA.
Residents and commuters who witnessed the inspection commended the Chairman’s swift intervention, expressing optimism that the palliative works and continued infrastructure improvements would bring lasting relief to road users and businesses operating along the corridor.
The Ejigbo LCDA leadership assured residents of continued proactive governance, promising more development initiatives aimed at transforming Ejigbo into a more accessible, secure, and thriving community.
