The Executive Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Dr. Seyi Jakande, on Monday, March 30, commissioned the newly reconstructed Alhaji Kola Oseni Street in Ilupeju, as part of his administration’s ongoing infrastructure drive across the council area.
The road, located off Town Planning Way, has been upgraded with smooth asphalt surface and proper road markings designed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and boost economic activities within the community.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Jakande disclosed that the project represents the 16th road completed under his administration, noting that several other road projects are currently ongoing across the LCDA.
He emphasized that the reconstruction reflects his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and improved living standards for residents.
“This road will not only ease transportation challenges but also stimulate economic activities in the area,” he stated, adding that the street had remained in poor condition for years before the intervention.
Residents of the community welcomed the development with enthusiasm.
A longtime resident, Mr. Niyi Afolabi, who has lived on the street for over five decades, described the project as a major relief.
“This road has been in a deplorable state for far too long. We are grateful for this intervention,” he said while speaking with newsmen
While appreciating the development, community members appealed for similar interventions across other parts of the LCDA.
Responding, Dr. Jakande assured residents that his administration remains committed to ensuring no road in the community is left unattended, reiterating his zero-tolerance stance on potholes and deteriorating roads.
Investigator news reports that the commissioning ceremony was attended by council officials, legislators, community development leaders, and party members, who commended the project and described it as another milestone in the administration’s ongoing developmental efforts.
