The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to address recent political discourse and activities by opposition parties within the state and across the nation.
While it is both imperative and expected that opposition parties play a critical role in strengthening democratic governance, such participation must be grounded in realism, responsibility, and respect for the mandate freely given by the people.
The outcome of the most recent off-season elections clearly reflects the will and confidence of Nigerians in the leadership, vision, and developmental trajectory set forth by the APC.
In contrast, the opposition has demonstrated a glaring lack of preparation, cohesion, and seriousness- further reinforcing doubts about its capacity to mount any credible challenge in the forthcoming electoral cycle.
It is, therefore, quite laughable that the same opposition is still desperately shopping for alliances and coalitions just days before the commencement of party primaries.
This last-minute scramble not only exposes disarray but also raises a fundamental question: is the opposition attempting to turn a serious democratic exercise into a political lottery, fueled by little more than wishful thinking and daydreams of impossible victories?
Rather than dissipating energy contesting settled mandates through distractions and unproductive rhetoric, we strongly advise opposition elements to channel their focus toward rebuilding, re-strategizing, and preparing meaningfully for the 2031 elections.
Governance is a serious responsibility, not a perpetual campaign. The APC remains fully committed to delivering on its promises-strengthening infrastructure, improving economic opportunities, enhancing security, and ensuring the overall well-being of our citizens. Our priority remains governance, not political theatrics.
We urge the opposition to embrace constructive engagement where necessary, while also acknowledging the political reality before them. Democracy thrives not only on competition but also on maturity, foresight, and respect for electoral outcomes.
The road to 2031 offers ample time for reflection, internal reforms, and the development of credible alternatives that can genuinely resonate with the electorate. Until then, Lagosians expect all political actors to contribute positively to the peace, stability, and progress of our dear state.
The APC in Lagos remains steadfast, focused, and unwavering in its mission to build a greater Lagos for all.
