The Ojoto community in Lagos State has thrown its weight behind Chief Emmanuel Ubah (Otunba Ojoto) as its preferred candidate for the position of President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Lagos State, distancing itself from the ambition of Chief Leonard Okafor, popularly known as Oba Ojoto.
This position was unanimously adopted during a well-attended meeting held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the residence of Chief Emmanuel Ubah.
According to community leaders, the gathering was convened to deliberate on the leadership direction of indigenes of Ezema community in Ojoto within the broader Igbo socio-cultural structure in Lagos.
Investigator news reports that speakers at the meeting described Ubah as a seasoned leader with a track record of service, philanthropy, and commitment to community development.
They stressed that his emergence as the community’s preferred candidate followed extensive consultations and a shared vision for stronger representation within Ohaneze Ndigbo.
In his speech,the Chairman of Ezema community, Chief Alfred Anozie, stated that the essence of the visit was to give their support and endorse Chief Emmanuel Ubah as President General Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos State.
He assured Chief Ubah that the community is in full support and prayed that at the end of the day, there will be victory.
Chief Anozie went further to enjoined members of Ohanaeze to continue to support him and ensure he wins the election, while calling on Chief Leonard Okafor also known as Oba of Ojoto to withdraw from the race in order to avoid division and preserve unity among Ojoto sons and daughters.
He maintained that presenting multiple candidates from the same community could weaken their collective influence.
Also speaking, the President General of Ojoto South Development Union,Chief Ndubueze Emejulu,reaffirming their stance noted that the Ojoto community is known for peace,unity, and progress, expressing confidence that Chief Emmanuel Ubah’s leadership would foster inclusiveness and strengthen the voice of Ndigbo in Lagos State.
He assured Chief Uba that Ojoto town is in full support of him despite the fact that there is another candidate from Ojoto town.
Chief Emejulu opined that Ojoto community has been involved both in reconciliation and consultation since the issue of the election came up between Chief Leonard Okafor (Oba Ojoto) and Chief Emma Uba (Otunba Ojoto) and Ojoto community has settled for Chief Uba.
He also urged the members of the town union to give their maximum support to ensure that Chief Uba emerges victorious during the election.
Responding Chief Emmanuel Ubah (Otunba Ojoto)who was full of excitement,expressed happiness that he has received a big boost from his community, stating that with the endorsement, his ambition has been strengthened which has given him a strong base for the campaign.
Ubah recalled how he contacted Chief Leonard Okafor Oba Ojoto before he declared his ambition.
According to him,he first contacted Oba Ojoto and asked to know if he is contesting so that he will step down for him.
He explained that after several visits and contacts, he eventually gave him the go ahead to contest,but was surprised that after he declared his intention and started making consultations, Oba Ojoto declared his ambition, and asked him to step down for him, making some derogatory comments against him, which he ignored and moved on with his consultations.
The philanthropist per excellence went further to thanked his community for their endorsement and support.
He promised that he will not disappoint them if he is eventually elected as the Ohanaeze President.
Investigator news gathered that the event was attended by the members and executives of Ezema community in Ojoto,including the President General of Ojoto South Development Union,Chief Ndubueze Emejulu,Chairman of Ezema community, Chief Alfred Anozie, elders of the community including the Ojoto Chief Priest, David Aginam; men and women from the town witnessed the endorsement.
Also present at the event were Ezendigbo Gburugburu in Southwest, Eze Tochukwu Anosike and his entourage, Chairman of all Chairmen of Ohanaeze, Nze Edwin Egboka, Chief Uba’s campaign coordinator, Chief Donatus Amuzie, members and executives of Ohanaeze Ndigbo from various Local Councils including Oto Awori LCDA.
