Leaders and stakeholders in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State have intensified mobilisation efforts in support of the re-election of Hon. Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The renewed push for his third-term bid was demonstrated during a massive solidarity procession held over the weekend, tagged the “1,000 Men Road March Pass Rally.”

The event, organised by Hon. Yomi Charles in collaboration with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), attracted thousands of supporters cutting across party lines.

The rally featured prominent political figures, including the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, alongside several local leaders, as they marched through major communities such as Mopa, Amuro, and Ijagbe.

Participants described the large turnout as a clear endorsement of Abejide’s performance and a reflection of the people’s commitment to continuity.

According to them, his track record in education, infrastructure, and social welfare has earned him widespread acceptance across the constituency.

They highlighted key achievements, including the consistent payment of WAEC fees for students since 2017, empowerment programmes for women and widows, and various developmental projects across Yagba Federal Constituency.

Mopamuro Local Government Chairman, Hon. Demola Bello, stated that all three LGAs in the constituency—Yagba East, Yagba West, and Mopamuro—are united in their resolve to ensure Abejide’s return to the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo emphasised that performance should be the primary consideration in leadership, noting that Abejide has impacted lives across the constituency regardless of political affiliation.

He expressed confidence that Mopamuro would deliver overwhelming support in 2027.

Fanwo also urged political opponents to close ranks and work together for the progress of the area, stressing the need for unity over division.

In his remarks, Hon. Yomi Charles reaffirmed his support for Abejide, stating that his decision is based on proven performance rather than party loyalty. He disclosed plans to align with the APC alongside his supporters to strengthen the re-election campaign.

Other stakeholders, including Dr. Amb. Samuel Babatunde Esanuaje, commended Abejide’s contributions to development, citing projects such as a major water scheme that has addressed water challenges in parts of Amuro.

He also praised the lawmaker’s efforts in agriculture, education, and empowerment initiatives.

Several former council officials and community leaders also pledged their support, urging residents to deliver bloc votes in favour of Abejide to attract more development to the area.

The rally commenced at Odole community in Mopa, moved through key parts of Mopa and Amuro, and concluded in Ijagbe, symbolising strong grassroots backing.

In addition to endorsing Abejide, the people of Mopamuro also expressed full support for the re-election of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reinforcing their political alignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
