The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has scheduled April 14, 2026, for its National Convention, with ward congresses set to commence on April 7 as part of preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party explained that the exercise is in line with its constitutional responsibility to renew leadership structures at all levels of the organisation, starting from polling units and wards to the local government and state levels, and culminating in the National Convention.
In a statement jointly signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinwdu Idigo, and National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC released the timetable for the congresses.
According to the statement, polling unit and ward congresses will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, followed by Local Government Area congresses on Thursday, April 9, 2026. State congresses are scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, while the National Convention will hold on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
The party also called on members interested in contesting for vacant positions at the ward, local government, or state levels to obtain, complete, and submit the necessary nomination or expression of interest forms through its official platform.
ADC said the forms and further details are available on its official website and urged members across the country to participate actively in the exercise.
The party further encouraged its members to conduct themselves in accordance with the party’s constitution, guidelines, and democratic values throughout the process.
