The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has continued his administration’s environmental sanitation and enforcement exercise across key areas of the council, with inspection visits to Alade Market and the Allen Avenue environs.
The exercise forms part of the local government’s ongoing efforts to maintain proper sanitation standards in markets, streets and other public spaces within Ikeja.
During the inspection, Comrade AKOD stressed the importance of collective responsibility among traders, shop owners and residents in ensuring a clean, orderly and healthy environment.
Investigator news reports that those who accompany the Chairman on the inspection were officials from the Department of Environment and Sanitation of Ikeja Local Government, led by the Head of Department, Sanitarian Omotayo.
Also present were the newly sworn-in Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers of the council, who joined the enforcement team in monitoring compliance while engaging traders and residents on the need to maintain environmental cleanliness.
AKOD explained that the sanitation and enforcement exercise aligns with the “E” pillar of the I.K.E.J.A Agenda, which prioritizes the creation of a clean, healthy and safe environment for residents of Ikeja.

He further emphasized that environmental sanitation remains a shared responsibility, urging residents and business owners to cooperate with the local government in sustaining hygienic surroundings.
The Chairman assured that the sanitation and enforcement exercise will continue across different parts of Ikeja Local Government, as the administration remains committed to promoting public health, environmental safety and improving the overall quality of life for the people.
