Youth organisations, executives of the Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Associations (CDAs), as well as Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs), joined the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), at a grand interfaith Iftar and breaking of fast held on March 11, 2026, at the Ikeja Local Government Secretariat.
The event brought together notable political personalities including the former Leader of the Ikeja Legislative House, Hon. Ololade Shonibare; the current Leader of the House, Hon. Ogunseye Rasheed Adisa; other councillors; and the APC Chairman in Ikeja LGA, Hon. Adebowale Adetoro.
Several youth organisations were well represented at the gathering. The Ikeja Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), led by Comrade Blessing,the Chairperson of the CDC, Alhaja Folami, led the contingents of CDA executives and other CDC officials to the event, while the delegation of Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) was led by Comrade Rotimi.
Comrade Blessing offered Christian prayers for continued peace, unity and progress in Ikeja Local Government, while Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs)led by Comrade Rotimi, highlighted the inclusive nature of the gathering.
In his remarks, Comrade AKOD expressed appreciation to all the groups present for their support and commitment to unity and peaceful coexistence in Ikeja.
He explained that the interfaith Iftar was organised to strengthen the bond among residents and stakeholders across religious and social lines, while encouraging collaboration for the continued development of the local government.
Speaking on behalf of their respective groups, representatives of the youth organisations, CDC/CDA executives and PLWDs commended the Chairman for the initiative.
They described the interfaith Iftar as a unifying platform that promotes inclusiveness and community engagement, while praising the AKOD administration for its grassroots-oriented leadership and efforts at carrying every segment of the community along in governance.
