The Executive Chairman of Odi-Olówó/Ojuwoye LCDA,Hon Dr. Seyi Jakande, has encouraged local farmers to join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s FarmerMoni programme, offering interest-free loans up to ₦300,000.
Addressing participants at a sensitisation and registration meeting held at the Council Hall, during the week, Jakande emphasized that the initiative represents a vital opportunity for grassroots farmers to access financial support without the burden of interest.
Dr. Jakande encouraged farmer groups to mobilise widely, stressing that the council’s priority is to ensure no eligible farmer is left behind.
He noted that the FarmerMoni rollout would continue in phases, with further sensitisation and registration drives planned to reach every corner of the LCDA
Investigator news reports that the session drew about 50 farmers from cooperatives and associations, who were guided through the programme’s objectives and requirements by the council’s Department of Agriculture and Social Services.
Coordinated by Mr. Ibrahim Ogunbadejo, the engagement ensured that farmers understood how the scheme could help expand their ventures in poultry, aquaculture, and livestock production.
By the end of the exercise, more than 25 farmers had successfully registered.
It will be recalled that FarmerMoni,is a flagship component of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) under NSIPA, which provides zero-interest loans of up to ₦300,000 with a three-month moratorium before repayment.
The scheme requires no collateral and prioritises women, youth, and vulnerable groups.
