The Executive Chairman of Oto Awori
LCDA,Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun,has embarked on a peace mission to Oto and Ijanikin following recent violent clashes.
Hon. Kareem who was accompanied by his Vice Chairman Hon. Moses Olabisi Aina, Leader of the House Hon. Audu Sulaiman, Deputy Leader, Hon. Bashiru Olamilekan and Council Manager Mr. Adeyemi Salam, met with senior police officers at the Ijanikin Police Division and assured the police of his administration’s support in maintaining law and order.
Investigator news reports that he was briefed on security measures being taken to prevent further clashes.
The delegation also paid courtesy visits to the traditional rulers of Oto and Ijanikin, HRH Oba Josiah Olarewaju Ilemabade Aina, Oloto of Oto-Awori Kingdom and HRH Oba Momodu Afolabi Ashafa where Hon. Kareem urged the monarchs to use their influence to promote peaceful coexistence among their subjects.
At Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), he met with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, seeking her support in restoring peace in the area.
He also met with youth leaders and community stakeholders, listening to their concerns and assuring them of his administration’s commitment to addressing their needs.
Investigator news gathered that residents welcomed the visit, hoping for a peaceful turnaround.
The police have deployed tactical squads and anti-riot units to maintain order, and authorities are urging residents to report any suspicious activity.
The Lagos State Government assures residents that efforts are being made to restore peace and stability, with several suspects already arrested and investigations ongoing.
