IMOTA LCDA Hosts One-Day Governor, Celebrates Educational Excellence.

 Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA)has produced the 21st edition of One-Day Governor, with Miss Etiyemonu Esther of Lagos State Model College, Igbokuta, emerging as the winner.

The Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele received Esther(One Day Gov),the One-Day Deputy Governor, Miss Awoyemi Dorcas and the One-Day Secretary to the State Government, Miss Salami Jumai Olaide, when they paid an official visit to the Council secretariat in Imota.

He praised the initiative for promoting leadership, academic excellence, and civic responsibility among students, describing the visit as a proud moment for the Imota LCDA and a clear reflection of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to quality education, Mentorship ,leadership development, educational excellence.

Hon Ayodele commended Senator Mrs Oluremi Tinubu and the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr Mrs Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for sustaining the programme,noting that the program offers students a rare opportunity to experience the workings of government, develop leadership skills at an early stage and remain inspired to strive for academic distinction and responsible citizenship.

He emphasized Imota LCDA’s commitment to supporting education and youth development initiatives.

He added that the council would continue to partner with the state government on initiatives that encourage excellence, discipline, and innovation among students.

Speaking during the visit, the Lagos State One-Day Governor, Miss Etiyemonu Esther, expressed gratitude to the council chairman and the entire Imota LCDA leadership for the warm reception accorded to the delegation.

She described the experience as both inspiring and educational, adding that it had deepened her understanding of governance and public service.

Miss Etiyemonu encouraged students across the state to remain focused on their academic pursuits and uphold the values of discipline, hard work, and integrity, while always striving for excellence.

According to her, education remains the key to unlocking opportunities and building a brighter future.

Lending their voices,the One-Day Deputy Governor and the Student SSG also commended the leadership of Imota LCDA for its commitment to grassroots development, particularly in education and youth-focused initiatives, noting that such efforts contribute significantly to the progress of the community.

In his remarks, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni, applauded the chairman for his laudable initiatives in education, infrastructure, and youth development.

He noted that the young leaders were all from Education District II, adding that such programmes contribute meaningfully to the advancement of education in the district.

Similarly, the Education Secretary of Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority, Mr. Taiwo Odumbo, congratulated the One-Day Governor, Deputy Governor, and Student SSG for their outstanding academic achievements.

Odumbo  urged them to continue to uphold the spirit of excellence and remain worthy ambassadors of the district and the state.

Also speaking, the Head of Education Department, Miss Olufowobi A.O., advised the young leaders to make the most of the opportunity, reaffirming the department’s commitment to educational advancement and youth empowerment across Imota LCDA.

Investigator news reports that among the dignitaries present were the Ranodu of Imota, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, CFR, Olufoworesete II, represented by the Olisa of Imota, Chief Olumuyiwa Adebogun;the Director-General of Education Quality Assurance, Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa; Director of Special Programmes, Mr. Akeem Agbabiaka; and Director Kehinde Ogunlana.

Other dignitaries included the Vice Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. (Princess) Abisoye Omowunmi Jimoh; the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Oluwole Adesina; Deputy Leader, Hon. Aberuagba Sunday; Majority Leader, Hon. Jelili Busayo; Council Manager, Olusegun Akinyemi,Hon. Kamilu Ogunnowo; Council Treasurer,Mr Onifade Oluyemi; Imota NULGE Chairman, Comrade Olatayo Taiwo Hassan; management staff, parents, students, and teachers, among others.

The visit concluded with an interactive session, exchange of goodwill messages, and a group photograph, as both the council leadership and the visiting delegation reaffirmed their shared commitment to youth leadership, educational excellence, and community development.
