The Member representing Aba north and Aba south federal constituency Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh has lauded the governor of Imo State governor for acknowledging and honouring past administrator of the State.
Hon. Ikwechegh who stated this during the award ceremony to mark the grand finale of Imo State 50th anniversary held at imo state government house on Saturday, 7th February 2026, noted that imo is a unique state that plays a role in moulding southeastern together adding that governor Hope Uzodinma has done very well in transforming the state economy and infrastructural development.
According to him, ” we can all recall that at some point imo state and Abia state were together and my father’s younger brother Lt. Commander Amadi Ikwechegh was once the governor of old imo state from 1985 to 1989, that is to ssy that my family has held sway in leading and development of the state”.
“It is a thing of joy to be here today to witness this celebration and conferment of to my late uncle, who his contribution towards the upliftment of imo state can not be over emphasized.”
” We will always cherish this honour been given to our family today, and we also thank the governor of Imo State,Sen Hope Uzodinma for remembering that there were people that were here before him and I pray that those that will come after him will also remember, he said.
“A lot of people gathered from all works of life to grace this occasion including the Vice President, that also indicate the sterling performance of the imo state governor in tackling insecurity and other vices, he has been very intentional in his leadership and has exercise absolute actionability in the delivery of dividends of democracy that is why we are all here to celebrate with him.”he submitted
