It has been rumored that the current ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has given former President Goodluck Jonathan permission to participate in the party’s upcoming presidential primary election.
Anaedoonline.ng came to this conclusion after meeting with the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, at the former President’s villa in Abuja the previous week. Senator Adamu confirmed that Jonathan had been granted the waiver.
It is said that Adamu met with Jonathan twice in the preceding week in order to reaffirm Jonathan’s willingness to run for president of the APC at the extraordinary National Convention which will take place on Sunday.
The former leader of Nigeria held a meeting at his mansion in Abuja with Mamman Daura, who is President Muhammadu Buhari’s influential nephew. The meeting took place behind closed doors.
Should he be given permission to run, Jonathan will compete for the presidential nomination of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against candidates such as Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the APC; Yemi Osinbajo, the vice president; Ahmad Lawan, the president of the Senate; Rotimi Amaechi, the former minister of transportation; Governor Dave Umahi, Governor Ben Ayade, Senate President Ahmad Lawan; Governor Badaru Abubakar; Senator Ibi
According to Newsmen, one of Jonathan’s aides shared the information that the ruling party has given the former president permission to participate in the presidential primary.
A positive outcome has been achieved within a few weeks, according to the aide, following the meeting that took place between Jonathan and the leaders of the APC.
He stated that “The road is now completely clear, and all glory is due to God.”
According to a second source, GEJ has finally been given the waiver, and he plans to contest the charge on Sunday.
It is common knowledge that Jonathan had stipulated that the only way he would participate in the election was if he was backed by the incumbent president and received support from a majority of the people.
