In a grand ceremony, Hon. Seyi Jakande, Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, launched the “JAKO Jollof” initiative, providing nutritious meals to public primary school pupils every Friday.

The launch of the JAKO JOLLOF program marks a significant milestone in the commitment to nurturing the young minds of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye.


This free-food initiative aims to provide nutritious meals to students across all 28 public primary schools, ensuring that students enjoy delicious, healthy meals as part of their school week, reflecting Jakande’s commitment both to educational enrichment and child nutrition.

The unveiling was held at St Martins, Danmegoro, Mushin on Friday, October 17,2025  with students from all the 28 Public primary school of the LCDA in attendance.

Investigator news reports that local vendors have also been contracted to prepare and serve JAKO Jollof rice, not only nourishing young learners but also stimulating the local economy by creating jobs and opportunities for local businesses.

In his welcome address ,Hon Jakande stated that the program is designed to ensure that students have the nourishment they need to thrive academically and grow into future leaders.

According to him,the initiative is part of the HEWA agenda, emphasizing health, education, and welfare.

“As many of you know, our children are our most vital asset. Their health, happiness, and success are paramount to the growth and prosperity of our community. With the JAKO JOLLOF initiative, we are not just providing meals; we are investing in their futures, ensuring that our young learners have the nourishment they need to thrive academically and grow into the leaders of tomorrow.”

He emphasized the initiative’s dual focus: providing balanced meals for children while fostering economic growth through local vendor participation, noting that trained food vendors from Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye will prepare and serve meals, supporting the local economy and ensuring that every meal is not only nourishing but also prepared with love and care

“I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the fantastic food vendors we have trained in Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye.”

Hon Jakande went further to urge parents, teachers and the entire community to continually support the children, while appealing to them to work in hand with the local government so as to foster an environment in which the children can thrive, not just in school but in life.

“As we embark on this journey, I urge all of us—parents, teachers, and community members—to continue supporting our children. Let us work hand in hand to foster an environment in which they can thrive, not just in school but in life.”

Parents expressed their gratitude, highlighting the relief the program brings to their weekly meal preparations.

Speaking with newsmen,one of the parents,Mrs Bosede said “This initiative is a blessing for families like ours. It ensures our children receive a nutritious meal at school without adding to our burdens.”

Investigator news gathered that the launch ceremony emphasized the importance of collaboration and support from parents, teachers, and community members in ensuring the success of the program.

With the JAKO JOLLOF initiative, the community is coming together to provide a healthier, happier, and more prosperous future for all children in Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye.

Highlight of the event was the distribution of food to the children,as notable dignitaries like Hon. Owolabi Falana, a permanent board member of SUBEB,the leader of the house, Hon. Adeyi Olamilekan, and his dedicated councillors.

Others are APC party chairman Hon. Babatunde Kazeem Tunkaz, CDC Chairman Chief Adekunle Adebayo, Education Secretary Princess Olufemi Akinlude, and representatives from both the League of Imams and the Christian community, alongside local traditional leaders and other community advocates.
