“Dr. Hamzat’s Newly Commissioned ICT Centre Will Empower Future Generations,” Says Jakande

Hon. Seyi Jakande, Executive Chairman of the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has expressed his enthusiasm for the newly commissioned ICT centre by the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, stating that it will empower future generations.
The chairman made this statement on Friday, September 19, at Odo Abore Primary School, location of the ICT Centre built by the deputy governor in commemoration of his birthday.
The launch underscores a strong commitment to enhancing educational resources and digital literacy for students in the community.
The establishment of the ICT centre fulfills a promise made by Dr. Hamzat during the school’s 80th anniversary, reflecting his dedication to leveraging technology for improved educational outcomes.
Investigator news reports that the centre aims to equip students with essential digital skills that are crucial in today’s technology-driven world.
Hon. Jakande used the avenue to congratulate the deputy governor on his birthday and praised him for this timely initiative, describing it as “mega back-to-school programme” that will provide immense value to students, thereby empowering them, both in Mushin LG and Odì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA.
He highlighted the success of existing ICT programmes within his jurisdiction such as centres at Damengoro, Ajenifuja, and the council headquarters,citing the overwhelming participation of over 600 students in the council’s recent ICT Summer Tech.
While assuring Dr. Hamzat that the new ICT centre would be well-maintained and effectively utilized to maximize its benefits for local students, the Chairman seized the opportunity to request extension of similar projects to Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA.
Speaking at the event,the Deputy Governor of Lagos State,Dr. Hamzat expressed pride in the school’s rich legacy of excellence and emphasized the importance of parental involvement in nurturing children’s digital skills.
He urged students to embrace technology and artificial intelligence to remain competitive in a global economy.
In response to Jakande’s request, Dr Hamzat announced plans for another ICT centre to be constructed in the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, further extending access to technological resources.
