The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, is set to launch its 2025 Press Week with a focus on advocacy and awareness.
The four day event with the theme “Journalism and the Fight Against Misinformation in a Digital Age.”will take place from August 28 to August 31, 2025, and will feature a series of activities aimed at promoting journalism standards and ethics.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Abraham Akpabio, and the Chairman of the 2025 Press Week Planning Committee, Comrade Joshua Uloko,said that the Press Week will kick off with an advocacy drive on child abuse in Nigeria,hosted by the Founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Ejigbo, Lagos, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele at his Church auditorium by 10am.
The advocacy drive on child abuse is a timely initiative, given the growing concerns about the welfare of children in Nigeria.
The Correspondents’ Chapel is using this platform to raise awareness about the issue and promote responsible journalism practices.
Other activities include a Muslim Jumuah prayer,at the Secretariat Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja, on Friday, August 29, by 2pm,health talk on Saturday morning, August 30, by the Lagos State Health Management Agency,lecture, award ceremony, and the unveiling of the Correspondents’ Chapel Magazine.
The events will bring together media practitioners, policymakers, thought leaders,entrepreneurs, entertainers, humanitarian service and stakeholders from various fields aimed at enhancing the standards and ethics of journalism in Nigeria.
Investigator news reports that the event on this day will hold at the prestigious Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference and Exhibition Center, Central Business District, Alausa Ikeja, Lagos, by 11am, and will be chaired by Otumba Olarenwaju Kazeem Lawal.
The Press Week would be rounded off with a special thanksgiving Church service on Sunday, August 31, at United Evangelical Church (Founded as Qua Iboe Church), Barracks Bus stop, Ojuelegba, Surulere, Lagos, by 9am.
The statement went further to state that Correspondents’ Chapel encourage their esteemed guests, friends of the Chapel, and all Journalists in the State to join them in all activities that have been lined up to make the 2025 Press Week a worthy event all through the week.
