The National Civil Society Coalition on Transparency and Public Accountability (NCSCTPA) has honored Dr. Ubon Udoh, Managing Director/CEO of the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), with the prestigious Civil Society Plaque of Honour for Strategic Philanthropy and Development Impact.
The award ceremony was held at the ASR Africa Office in Abuja, celebrating Dr. Udoh’s visionary leadership and groundbreaking contributions to sustainable development in Nigeria and across Africa.
Investigator news reports that under Dr. Udoh’s guidance, ASR Africa has implemented projects in healthcare, education, and social development, including multi-billion-naira hospital upgrades in Ogun and Edo States, delivery of modern medical equipment to facilities in Abuja, and construction of ICT and student facilities in leading universities.
Presenting the award, Ambassador Kingsley Enwelim Nwanze, Lead Convener of NCSCTPA and Director General/CEO of CELCE-AFRICA, praised Dr. Udoh as “a development leader whose vision has set a benchmark for impactful philanthropy in Africa”.
He commended Udoh’s dedication to youth empowerment, community growth, and institutional capacity-building, describing his work as “an inspiration for a new era of socially responsible leadership.”
Investigator news gathered that Dr. Udoh holds a PhD in Security and Strategic Studies and brings over 20 years of expertise in international development, monitoring and evaluation, and peace building.
He has led various initiatives, including the World Bank PROLAC intervention in the Lake Chad region, and served as Head of Monitoring & Evaluation at the North East Development Commission.
Dr. Udoh’s personal initiatives, such as the Hotcoal Basketball Club and the Cornerstone Foundation, have supported youth education, built sports facilities, and empowered hundreds of young people.
Dr. Udoh’s work has been described as “an inspiration for a new era of socially responsible leadership,” focusing on community growth and institutional capacity-building.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Udoh expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, dedicating the award to the ASR Africa team and reaffirming his commitment to building partnerships that deliver long-term community impact.
The event concluded with Amb. Nwanze’s appeal for financial contributions to support the printing and nationwide distribution of “Rethinking Leadership through Design: A Path for People-Centric Leadership”, a new CELCE-AFRICA publication aimed at fostering a new generation of transformational leaders across Africa.
