The National Civil Society Coalition on Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy has recognized the Director General/CEO of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Mr. Obi Asika, for his outstanding leadership.
The coalition presented Asika with a Certificate of Credence during a strategic working visit to NCAC headquarters in Abuja, highlighting his remarkable achievements, while praising him for the completion of Nigeria’s New Cultural Policy, which is soon to be unveiled.
The group commended the initiatives such as the Innovative Creative Entrepreneurship (ICE) program and the Creative Lead Acceleration Program (CLAP), designed to equip Nigerian youths with skills and opportunities in the global creative economy.
Investigator news reports that the visit led by Amb. Kingsley Enwelim Nwanze, DG/CEO of the Centre for Leadership and Creative Entrepreneurs in Africa Ltd/GTE, stated that the strategic working visit to NCAC headquarters in Abuja was to explore deeper collaboration in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
While hailing the Council’s efforts towards becoming a revenue-generating agency, the Coalition expressed concern over its underfunding and urged the Federal Government to increase its budgetary allocation, noting NCAC’s strategic role in tackling youth unemployment through arts, culture, and creativity.
Investigator news gathered that Asika, a renowned creative industry expert, record label executive, and television & live event executive producer, was appointed NCAC Director General in January 2024.
He has over three decades of experience in the creative sector and has worked with various government and policy-shaping initiatives.
