The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA),Aare Tahoeed Adebayo Taiwo has officially inaugurated the 6th Legislative Assembly, marking the beginning of a new chapter in local governance and grassroots development in the council area.

The inauguration, held on Wednesday 30,July 2025 at the Council hall and thereafter to Dele Idowu Legislative Chamber,featured the swearing-in of six newly elected councilors:Hon Sobande Gabriel (Ilamoshe ward)Hon Fatai Bello (Fadu ward),Hon Taiwo Idowu (Aigbaka ward),Hon Muritala Olabisi (Okeafa ward),Hon Akeem Araokanmi(Ifoshi ward)and Hon Ifatunmise Adefioye

Following the oath-taking ceremony administered by the Council Legal Officer and Clerk,Barr.Abimbola Adebola,the Councilors proceeded to the legislative chamber for their first official sitting.

There, Hon.Sobande Gabriel representing Ilamoshe ward emerged as Leader of the House, while Hon.Taiwo Idowu from Aigbaka ward was elected as Deputy Leader.

Others are Hon Ifatunmise Adefioye representing Ailegun ward(Majority leader),Hon Akeem Araokanmi (Ifoshi ward, Deputy Majority leader),Hon Fatai Bello (Fadu ward, Chief Whip)and Hon Muritala Olabisi (Okeafa ward, Deputy Chief Whip).

In his address,the Executive chairman Aare Taiwo filled with pride and joy, congratulated the new councilors, emphasizing that their election reflects the trust and confidence of their constituents.

He reminded them of their solemn responsibility to serve with integrity, loyalty, and purpose, giving voice to the aspirations and concerns of the people they represent.

“Permit me to begin by congratulating our newly sworn in Councilors. Your election did not come by chance,it is a reflection of the trust, confidence and expectations your constituents have placed in you.”

“You have been chosen not to make laws but to give voice to the aspirations, yearnings and concerns of the people you represent.”

“Today you take on a solemn responsibilities to serve with integrity, loyalty and a sense of purpose. The synergy between the executives and legislature arms of government is critical for any administration that seeks to delivered dividends of democracy.

Taiwo stressed the importance of synergy between the executive and legislative arms of government to deliver democracy’s dividends as he looks forward to a collaborative relationship with the 6th legislative council, focusing on key areas like good roads, quality education, healthcare, security, and environmental safety.

He urge the Councilors to be accessible, transparent, and committed to progressive dialogue, while calling for unity and respect among all stakeholders to build a stronger Ejigbo.

He pledged to uphold good governance, fiscal discipline, and people-driven development during his tenure.

“I enjoin you all to be accessible to your people, transparent,in all your dealings and committed to progressive dialogue. Let us shun divisions and focus on building a stronger,united Ejigbo. It is only through unity, respect for each other roles, and a shared vision that we can collectively move our LCDA  forward”

“As we begin this new chapter in the life of our legislative council,I pledge once again that under my watch ,we will uphold good governance,fiscal discipline and people driven development. We have a lot of work to do,and with cooperation,I am confidence we shall exceed expectations.”

The Executive Chairman who outlined his administration’s vision for Ejigbo LCDA,which includes infrastructure renewal, traffic management,economic empowerment, quality education, security, youth development, and healthcare access called on the councillors to work together to achieve this vision and build a model LCDA that future generations will thank them for, while expressing gratitude to the people of Ejigbo LCDA for their continued support, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to their welfare and progress.

The newly elected leader of the 6th legislative council,Hon Sobande in his acceptance speech thanked his colleagues for the confidence they have in him, while pledging to lead the council with transparency, fairness,unity, vision and deep sense of dignity.

Hon Sobande emphasized that the Councilors would work in synergy with the executive arm of government to record success stories and bring development to the various ward in Ejigbo LCDA .

” I want to congratulate the Executive Chairman Aare Taiwo and we pledge to work with him and members of his team because the executive and the legislative arm is a collective responsibilities to work in harmony for the development of our community “he said.

He appealed to his colleagues not to see the day as a celebration of their success but a reminder of the sacred trust bestowed upon them by the people who elected them to represent their voice and interest at the grassroot level.

” We are here because our people believe in our ability to be their voice as their representative,as such we must place their needs at the center of what we do,let our sections not be filled with personal interest,or party rivalry but with debates and contributions that will improve roads, health infrastructure, schools,water supply and youth empowerment in our wards ”

“The challenges before us are so many but so are the opportunities,we must make laws and motions that are impactful and people centered. We must carry out our oversight functions duties not as a formality but as a serious responsibilities to ensure public resources are used efficiently and accountability ” he submitted.

Speaking with newsmen,the immediate past local government chairman,Hon Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello congratulated the newly elected Councilors who are saddle with the responsibilities of making laws for the people of Ejigbo LCDA.

Hon Bello went further to wish them a successful tenure, stating that he has confidence in them that they would deliver and come up with laws and motions that would bring more infrastructural projects to the people of Ejigbo.

He called on the people of Ejigbo to rally round their support to the Councilors by giving them a chance to operate and the required peace they need so that they can key in into the vision of the Executive Chairman so as to bring developmental projects.

Earlier the Council Manager, Pastor Olusegun Ajaguna urge the people to pray and support the current administration and that of the Councilors so that they make impactful representation.

While appealing to the people of Ejigbo to come up with relevant matters relating to their ward than presenting their personal needs to the Councilors.

Those in attendance for the inauguration include the Vice Chairman,Hon Abimbola Nicholas Ike, Immediate Past Chairman,Hon Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello,His Royal Highness,Oba Moruf Adisa Adekunle(Oba of Ejigbo), Former Vice Chairman,Hon Dr. Olusumande Olatunde, Council Manager, Pastor Olusegun Ajaguna who led other management team,Alhaji Bayo Okunkiola(APC Chieftain),Rev Steve Oyinlola(CAN Chairman), AIhaji Sanni(Chief Imam of Ejigbo), Major Adegbeshin,Bar Adebola(Clerk of the house) and other dignitaries.

Highlight of the event was the proclamation and oath taking by the Councilors.
