Two people were killed and two others were injured in a petrol tanker explosion on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway yesterday.
According to a source, the tanker was loaded with diesel when a minibus carrying passengers rammed into it after a tyre burst.
“The truck’s diesel spilled into the gutter, igniting flames and burning everything in its path,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Anambra’s Chief Fire Officer, Mr Martin Agbili, confirmed the incident, saying two people died in the accident.

“A tanker loaded with gas had a burst tyre, which resulted in a collision with a shuttle bus, which caused the fire explosion,” he said.

“We sent our firemen down to the fire incident scene right away to put out the fire.” Two people were burned to death, according to eyewitness accounts and what we could confirm,” he said.
