The umbrella body of traditional medicine practitioners in Imo state under the aegis of National Association of Nigeria Traditional Medicine Practitioners ( NANTMP) has passed a vote of implicit confidence on the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe.
At a massively attended meeting of state, local government area, ward leaders and members from the three senatorial districts of Imo state, the association after critically reviewing issues of common interest to people of the state, happily observed that Imo state government armed with laws made by the State House of Assembly, has provided a conducive environment and atmosphere for alternative (traditional medicine ) practice in the state.
The association went further to observed that the 10th house of Imo state apex legislative arm under the leadership of Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe has since its inauguration on June 13, 2023, consistently devoted time to fashioning out live-transforming motions and bills that placed the executive arm on a smooth lane to amazing achievements.
” We want to sincerely, point out that under the watch of Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe, Imo State House of Assembly has fully assumed the status and function of the People’s Parliament where issues from every local government area and every segment of Imo state are exhaustively discussed, deliberated upon and given prompt attention.
“In Imo House of Assembly, there is no clearly defined line between opposition house members and members of the ruling party, the APC as the Speaker, Chike Olemgbe gives all members equal opportunity to contribute to deliberations.”
“This is why we have a healthy legislative house Imo state. We also, want to recall that in their wisdom as representatives of all Imo people, the 27 Lawmakers under Chike Olemgbe, had before now, moved a motion directing the state Ministry of Health to harmonise and reconcile all traditional medicine practitioners in the state.”
“This resulted to our working in harmony and hand-in-glove with the health ministry which now supervises the activities of NANTMP. This beautiful state of affairs would not have been possible without the wisdom of the Chike Olemgbe-led Imo State House of Assembly”. they stated
Expressing unwavering confidence in the leadership of Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe as Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, the traditional medicine practitioners in their huge numbers, gave kudos and standing ovation to the Chief Executive and Governor of Imo State, Senator Dr Hope Uzodimma for embracing and supporting whole-heartedly, the emergence of a humble, down-to-earth and vibrant young man, Chike Olemgbe as Speaker of the 10th legislative house of Imo State Assembly in 2023.

We as traditional medicine practitioners in Imo state, have benefited from the house leadership of Chike Olemgbe and NANTMP as the umbrella body of registered and genuine traditional medicine practitioners in Imo state, has become stronger, following advice and supervision of the state ministry of health as directed by the State House of Assembly”
Earlier in his address during the deliberations that preceded the vote of implicit confidence on Speaker Chike Olemgbe, the Chairman of Imo State Chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Traditional Medicine Practitioners (NANTMP ), Hon Chief Dr John Amarachi Nwaike strictly charged all traditional medicine practitioners who were still sitting on the fence to come quickly at the association’s secretariat in Owerri, along the Owerri-Egbu road by Old Somachi motor park and get registered, to avoid running counter to existing laws on traditional medicine practice.
Appreciating the vote of implicit confidence on Speaker Chike Olemgbe, his Senior Legislative Aide, Barr Uchenna Nwoke who was present at the occasion, thanked the NANTMP chairman, Chief John Amarachi Nwaike, other leaders and members of the association for their decision to encourage the leadership of Imo State House of Assembly as presently constituted by way of vote of implicit confidence on Speaker Chike Olemgbe.
According to Barr Uchenna Nwoke, the vote of confidence would certainly act as a morale booster to all leaders and members of the state house of assembly.
Uchenna Nwoke described the Imo state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma and all those that ensured the emergence of Chike Olemgbe as Speaker of the state legislative assembly as the proverbial Man who saw tomorrow, adding that the number One lawmaker in Imo state is a man divinely packaged to lead the state apex legislative assembly at this point in time.
