The Anambra State Government has debunked the malicious and entirely false information circulating on social media platforms, claiming that it has begun the arrest of girls who dress half-naked and walk around without bras and pants
In a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Soludo,Mr Christian Aburime,has denounced the information as untrue, mischievous, and an orchestrated story to mislead the public and tarnish its reputable image by detractors.
He went further to state that the government under Soludo remains committed to protecting the fundamental human rights and dignity of the people of Anambra State, even though it encourages decency generally.
According to him, Governor Soludo’s government does not interfere with the people’s private issues relating to dressing, as it is within their right to decide on such matters, as enshrined in the country’s Constitution.
“The Anambra State Government, under the leadership of Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, remains committed to protecting the fundamental human rights and dignity of all citizens. Although the government encourages decent dressing for all, it does not interfere with citizens’ personal choices of clothing or undergarments, as such matters are private and protected by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We urge the public to disregard this fake news and always verify information from official government channels before sharing.
” The peddlers of this false information are advised to desist from such acts of misinformation that could create unnecessary panic and tension in society.”he stated
Aburime opined that the Anambra State Government will continue to focus on serious issues of security of lives and property, human capital development, economic transformation of the state, and urban regeneration agenda, among others for the benefit of Anambra citizens, rather than pedestrian issues. .
