On Wednesday, suspected terrorists stormed one of Katsina State’s churches, which was presided over by Bishop Matthew Hassan-Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.
The two priests and two other people were allegedly kidnapped from the rectory of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Gidan Maikambo, Katsina State.

Kukah’s Sokoto Diocese encompasses Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi states.
The news was confirmed by Rev. Fr Christopher Omotosho, the Director of Social Communications for the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.
He claimed that the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto was under siege and that no information about the abductees’ location had been obtained.
“At 12 a.m. today, May 25, 2022, gunmen broke into the rectory of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Gidan Maikambo, Kafur LGA, Katsina State.
“The parish priest and his assistant, Rev. Frs. Stephen Ojapa, MSP, and Oliver Okpara, as well as two houseboys, were abducted. Their whereabouts are unknown. Please pray for their safety and release, as stated by Omotosho.
