Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun on her appointment as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, stating that her appointment “is well deserved.”

In a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu expressed pride in Lagos State producing its second female Chief Justice of Nigeria. He highlighted Justice Kekere-Ekun’s long and dedicated service within the Lagos State judiciary, where she served for over two decades in various capacities before being elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2004 and the Supreme Court in 2013.

Sanwo-Olu encouraged Justice Kekere-Ekun to continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and justice in her new role, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the judiciary as the true hope for the common man.

He stated, On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I congratulate our Amazon, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, on her appointment as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.

He continued, The emergence of a Lagos indigene, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, as the second female Chief Justice of Nigeria is a thing of joy to us, and we are happy to associate with her. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun’s appointment is well deserved, and going by her antecedents as a seasoned jurist with over 30 years in the bar and bench as a legal practitioner and Justice of the High Court.
