In order to fulfill one of his campaign promises of providing clean and portable water to Ejigbo Community,the Honourable Member Representing Oshodi/lsolo Federal Constituency 2,Hon (Bar) Okey Joe Onuakalusi has commissioned a solar borehole on Saturday,20th of July,2024.
The borehole which is strategically located because of its importance is opposite the palace of Oba of Ejigbo, Oba Moruf Adekunle Ojoola, and it is free and opened for public use
Addressing newsmen after the commissioning,Hon Okey Joe who was represented by his Special Adviser on Social Political Affairs, Chief John Onyebuchi Uche stated that the borehole was abandoned for years until the community called his attention to it and he decided to rehabilitate it with a solar light for everyone to have access to good portable water.
He said,” l am to commission this water borehole that has been lying fallow for years now,the community drew my attention to this and l quickly came to the rescue of my people, knowing fully well that water is life and also for them to have clean and portable water in the community and for the fact that the community had previously relied on contaminated surface water sources, private boreholes, and commercial water hawkers highlights the urgency of this project.”he stated
The Lawmaker noted that the above development is part of his broad-based and relentless efforts of achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG) by providing clean and access to potable water to all communities in his constituency which will have far-reaching benefits for their health, hygiene, and overall well-being.
The Oba of Ejigbo,Oba Moruf Adekunle Ojoola appreciates the effort of Hon. Okey-Joe in ensuring that the community enjoys clean water again, stating that the former borehole stopped functioning for years, until Hon. Okey-Joe dims it fit to rehabilitate it
Oba Moruf went further to appeal to the Honourable member to attract more projects that will be of great importance to the community.
” The is a welcome development and we need more projects so as to enhance the development of the community. As the member representing the community in Abuja,he should not play politics with tribalism because it is not only one tribe that voted him into power, if given the opportunity to employ people,he should not be sentimental about it, rather let him do well by accommodating everyone” he stated
While appealing to all Nigerians to continue to pray and be patient with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying that with little time, Nigeria will smile again.
The Labour Party Local Government Chairman Oshodi/lsolo, Bishop Dr Remigus Agu thanked the Honourable member for fulfilling one of his campaign promises to the people, noting that the reconstruction of the water borehole is a sign that Hon Okey Joe is a man of integrity and more dividends would be attracted to the people of Oshodi/lsolo Federal Constituenncy 2.
“This is a welcome development and it is a thing of joy. The borehole that is been commissioned today is a sign that the person of Hon Okey Joe is a man of integrity and Ejigbo LCDA is a witness to this.”
” The community is in dire need of this,he was contacted and he quickly came to the rescue,now we are done with phase one,the next phase is for the inner streets of Ejigbo to be powered with solar light”he submitted.
Lending his voice, Prince Richard Oroh opined that the commissioning is in line with the promises in his manifesto, stating that Hon Okey Joe promised basic amenities and has ensured that the people of Ejigbo have access to clean and portable water especially the period where the country is battling with the outbreak of cholera,he said
Investigator News gathered that Hon Okey Joe Onuakalusi have provided free scholarships to over 1000 children from the age of 6-18years of age with N600,000 each as educational palliatives, purchasing of 300 JAMB forms and sponsoring of children with special skills/talents.
Highlight of the event was the commissioning of the water project by the Oba of Ejigbo,Oba Moruf Adekunle Ojoola, those in attendance include Special Adviser on Media,Mazi Chuks Sunday Nwosu, Personal Assistant to Hon Okey Joe,Prince Richard Oroh, labour party stalwart and leaders among others.
