Tree Planting: Ejigbo Council Boss,OBE Urges Community To Support Tree Planting For A Greener Lagos.

The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo, Hon. Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello,has urged residents of the Ifoshi community and Ejigbo at large to nurture and protect trees planted in their domain during this year’s tree planting exercise, themed “Nurture Our Future”.
This appeal was conveyed by the Leader of the Legislative Arm of the LCDA, Hon. Lanre Akinbowale, who represented the Council Chairman at the Ifoshi community area of Ejigbo, where the tree planting event took place.
Investigator news gathered that the exercise was simultaneously conducted across all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Akinbowale emphasized the importance of tree planting for the well-being of society.
“Tree planting is essential for the well-being of society, as it positively impacts the environment, supports biodiversity, conserves water resources, improves air quality, and offers socio-economic advantages,” he said.
Hon. Akinbowale went further to assured the residents of Ifoshi and Ejigbo LCDA at large of Hon. OBE’s commitment to continued participation and support in the annual tree planting exercise.
He urged all community residents to protect and preserve the newly planted trees to ensure that everyone can enjoy their benefits when fully grown.
“We will continue to seek your support and cooperation in our administration’s quest to bring meaningful developments to all parts of the LCDA,” he concluded.
Mrs. Sholaboni Falujo a representative from Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) while addressing the gathering, spoke on the Improper waste disposal, indiscriminate cutting of trees which can clogs drainage systems, causing blockages, flooding, and infrastructure damage.
Sholaboni noted that it can lead to health hazards from waterborne diseases and contaminated drinking water, environmental pollution, increased cleanup costs, and a reduced quality of life in the community.
Mrs Sholaboni highlighted the agency’s goals and objectives which include mitigating the effects of climate change, ensuring environmental sustainability, enhancing biodiversity, and supporting all 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.
The Head of the Department for Environmental Services, Dir. San. Salami Temitayo, enlightened participants on the effects of climate change, noting the wide range of environmental, economic, and social impacts.
These include rising temperatures, loss of biodiversity, and agricultural impacts that affect crop yields, leading to food shortages and increased prices.
Hon. Adebisi Sadiq, the Supervisor for Environment, expressed gratitude in his vote of thanks, appreciating Hon. OBE’s commitment to making the environment conducive and habitable for all.

Olusegun Oyegbemile, S.A. for Information and Strategy; Mr. Olusegun Ajagunna, Council Manager; Engr. Bankole Babatunde, HOD Works and Infrastructure; Mr. Olowookere Jacob, HOU Tourism,Comrade Aluko Babatunde, NULGE Chairman and Ajiboye Yinka ably represented the DPO of Ejigbo.
