The Chairman Council Of Ndieze, Lagos State and the Eze Ndigbo of Ijegun and Ijeododo,Eze Dr Chika Nwokedi on Saturday paid a condolences visit to the residence of HRM Oba Nuremi Alani Akinremi,Oba of Ijegun, over the death of his mother Alhaja Taibat Akinremi (Nee Olusola)who passed away at the age of 103 on June 9,2024 after a brief illness.

Eze Nwokedi who led members of his cabinet and other lgbo stakeholders described the late Alhaja Taibat as a peace loving mother,who will always ensure that there is peace among the different ethnic groups in ljegun community.

He went further to state that the essence of the visit was to show solidarity and love to the Oba Akinremi family as against the speculation in Ijegun community that the relationship between Igbos and Yoruba is estranged, noting that the Igbos in the Ijegun axis of Lagos state have come to dispel the rumours by showing the strength of solidarity and unity between tribes.

Eze Chika Nwokedi, Ezendigbo Ijegun/Ijeododo, commended the Oba for his warm welcome and upright nature, describing him as a detribalized Nigerian, while assuring him that the lgbos in ljegun appreciates his reign for being a peace-loving king who carries everyone along.

He advise all in attendance to live uprightly, as death is inevitable, while commiserating with Oba Nuremi Alani Akinremi,he stated that any Igbo person who airs by misguided utterances or irregular behaviour inciting tribal war towards the non-tribe should be reported, as such matters will be treated accord

HRM Oba Nureni Alani Akinremi, who received Igbos at his palatial residence in Ijegun, acknowledged the love and respect accorded him by the Igbos.

In his remark, he advised people, irrespective of tribes and race, to do good in life because, after death, they will be remembered for the good they have done as well as leave a legacy for others to emulate, while blessing those who visited him.

A spokesman from the palace of Ijegun of Kabiyesi Oba Nureni Alani Akinremi, stated that unity will continue to reign in Ijegun, affirming that Oba and Eze will always work together to keep and maintain peace and unity in the community, noting that the Ijegun Palace appreciates the Igbos for their warm condolence visit.

Chief Ogbuka, who served as the spokes man for Eze Chika Nwokedi’s cabinet chiefs, also gave condolence remarks, stating that the visit was intended to show respect to Oba Nureni Alani Akinremi on account of his mother’s demise.

The visit attracted Igbos under the jurisdiction of the reign of Eze Chika Nwokedi, Ezendigbo Ijegun Ijeododo as they trooped out in their numbers and presented items to show support as the burial arrangement progressed.
