The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, has joined well-meaning Ebonyians to convey felicitations to the First Lady, and Wife of the Governor of Ebonyi State, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, on her award as the “Performing First Lady of the Year” by the Africa Iconic Women in Leadership.
The Speaker, on his goodwill Message, extolled the First Lady on her efforts in alleviating the sufferings of the downtrodden in the society, especially her display of rare philanthropy by enabling women to access free medications through her Pet project – “Better Health for Rural Women, Children & Internally-Displaced Foundation (BERWO)”.
According to him,”Your Excellency, your strides so far for the well-being of Ebonyi Women, Children, and the less privileged in the society, through your Better Health for Rural Women, Children & Internally-Displaced Foundation (BERWO), has defined you as a good Mother, who genuinely wants the best for the children. Today, you have redefined the narratives in Ebonyi State, and Significantly, pregnant Women can now go to hospital and deliver successfully without payment of a dime, and notwithstanding access other free medications.
“This philanthropy has no doubt, increased the lifespan of so many Ebonyians. Thank you for your care, love and concern for Ebonyi Women, Children, and the less privileged in the Society.”he stated
Rt Hon. Odunwa went further to described the award as well deserved, and expressed gratitude to the Africa Iconic Women in Leadership, for bestowing the honour on the first Lady of the State, adding that it was an indication, that the strides of the first Lady in alleviating the sufferings of women and the less privileged are no longer felt alone in Ebonyi State, but the nation at large, and also prayed for more wisdom and protection of the First Lady, to continue to achieve more for Ebonyi State.
“As you emerge the Performing First Lady of the Year, we are not surprise in view of all you have done in Ebonyi State. It is an indication that your strides for the well-being of Ebonyi Women, Children, and the less privileged, can no longer be felt alone in Ebonyi State, but Nigeria at large.
“It is our fervent prayer, that God Almighty will continue to guide and protect you, grant you good health and more wisdom as you continue to make Ebonyi State proud.”He submitted
