During a raid on terrorists’ hideouts in the Giwa region of Kaduna State, which was carried out in conjunction with Defence Headquarters Special Forces, troops from Operation Forest Sanity were responsible for the deaths of no less than six of the state’s resident terrorists.
During the operation, several different types of ammunition that had been used by the terrorists were also recovered.
On Saturday, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Musa Danmadami, released a statement in which he claimed that the terrorists had been killed during a gun battle that had broken out during the operation on Friday.
The following is an excerpt from the statement that was released: “On June 9, 2023, troops from Operation Forest Sanity, in conjunction with the Defence Headquarters Special Forces, conducted a covert operation to bandit enclaves at Maidaro village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and made contact with terrorists.
“During the ensuing fire fight, troops were able to eliminate six terrorists and recover various items, including five AK-47 rifles, 192 rounds of 7.62 x 39 mm Special ammunition, 74 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm Special ammunition, nine AK-47 rifle magazines, three IEDs, three Baofeng radios, one PKM, and three motorcycles,”
He urged the people to provide the troops with accurate information regarding the activities of terrorists in their area at the appropriate time.
“The military high command commends troops of Operation Forest Sanity and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on terrorists and all criminal activities within their area,” the statement continued. “The military high command also commends troops of Operation Forest Sanity.”
According to the reports, in April of 2023, troops from Operation Forest Sanity set up an ambush and killed two bandit leaders who were terrorising Kaduna. One of the dead bandit leaders was the infamous Isiya Danwasa.
