Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau, who represents Kano Central, has given President Bola Tinubu advice on how to lower the cost of running the country.

He instructed the president to merely lower the number of senators and representatives.

On Politics Today on Channels Television on Wednesday night, Shekarau claimed that Nigeria does not require both chambers to be led by Tinubu.

“Left to me, we don’t need the two chambers, the two houses,” he said.

“It costs the nation money. I agree that a democracy requires as much participation as possible, but the way things are going right now, there are almost 500 legislators across the country; I don’t think we actually need this many right now.

The National Assembly currently has 469 members, including 109 senators and 360 members of the House of Representatives.
